Driven by the enormous progress in understanding the molecular basis of tumorigenesis and identification of promising therapeutic targets, the number of available oncology drugs for clinical use has immensely expanded over the past several decades. However, challenges remain in managing cancer because most current cancer therapy modalities are inevitably associated with collateral damages to normal tissues and development of drug resistance in cancer cells, indicating the need for new and exceptional therapeutic options beyond the established. Complement with the conventional disease-centric approaches that treat cancer by suppressing aberrant pathological processes, we use the health-oriented strategy to induce pathways that act to promote and support physiological health. By focusing on homeostatic control mechanisms, we aim to develop therapies that boost the ability to maintain the healthy state in the face of insults and that strengthen disease tolerance to alleviate pathologies and to augment the recovery of physiological health from damages.
